KAYLIE JONES

We (members of the James Jones Literary Society) meet every year in different parts of the country. This year is a particular pleasure for me since this is where I live, and my father’s great friends are still in the neighborhood, so to speak. All I really wanted to say before we get started today is that the writers here today are truly the preeminent World War II figures of their generation, and some the most important writers we have in this country. For them to take the time on a 95-degree day to come here and speak about my father and their own WWII writings is an enormous, enormous honor. I can’t thank them enough for taking the time to do this for us. I am so pleased to see we almost already have a full house, and we have not even really begun yet. This is a wonderful, wonderful day for me.
